Pirulen is a display naming system for advanced machines.

Aerospace, autonomous and robotic companies often already have a neutral corporate sans for reports, websites, specifications and interface text. The harder problem comes when the machine itself needs a name. Set a platform name in the corporate face and it can look like another heading; push too far into decorative sci-fi lettering and serious hardware starts to look fictional. Pirulen occupies the useful space between those extremes.

Its broad all-cap geometry gives short names and model designations enough visual mass to behave like part of the product. The forms are clearly technological, but simple enough to repeat across whole families of machines, generations and variants. Alternate A forms let the designer control how strongly the identity leans into science fiction.

Uncrewed aircraft are a natural fit. Long-range UAVs, reconnaissance platforms, autonomous cargo aircraft and related air, ground and maritime systems need model names and variant designations that can move from fuselage or wing markings to trade-show walls, launch films and product presentations.

Commercial spacecraft present a similar naming problem. Satellite buses, orbital-transfer vehicles, servicing spacecraft, lunar rovers and landers are increasingly presented as identifiable platforms rather than anonymous engineering. Pirulen can give those names a stronger presence across mission graphics, launch-webcast titles, aerospace exhibitions and customer presentations while technical documentation remains in a quieter companion face.

Counter-drone systems, electronic-warfare platforms and advanced sensors can use Pirulen to separate memorable system names from the dense diagrams and specifications around them. Hazardous-environment robotics offers a civilian extension through mining robots, pipe-inspection crawlers, remote-maintenance machines and infrastructure inspection platforms.

Autonomous maritime equipment is particularly well suited to Pirulen’s broad proportions. Survey craft, oceanographic vehicles, patrol systems and remote inspection vessels provide long hulls where platform names can become part of the machine itself.

Pirulen also works for fictional hardware when the goal is credible industrial world-building. Spaceflight simulators, mech games, near-future strategy titles and hard-science-fiction productions often need spacecraft classes, drones, rover models and autonomous vehicles that look as though they came from an actual engineering company.

Pirulen is not the typography that explains the machine. It is the typography that gives the machine a name.
